THE GREAT MIGRATION SAFARIS:
Feline Safaris Tanzania Limited, has been following the projection movements of wildebeest within the Serengeti ecosystem for ages, today we know better each moment the annual migration occur.
Does not matter that the Serengeti ecosystem covered the vast land, we carefully plan the migration safaris according to the projection movement of the herds, and bring you to exhibit one of the rare miraculous stages occurs on earth, includes the Mara River with flotillas of hungry crocodiles awaiting masses herds of wildebeest to stumble at the crossing, cow wildebeests giving birth at the breeding south and eastern open grasslands of the Serengeti. Wildebeest meandering lines striking western corridor woodland and the Grumeti River.
Is a miraculous stage on which this show is set is loosely termed Serengeti Ecosystem, about 40,000 square kilometers pretty much defined by the dominant Migration route of wildebeest and comprises parts of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority in the south, the Serengeti National Park and the adjustment Maswa Game Reserve, and other control areas in the east- west and Masai Mara Game Reserve to the northern. Almost two million animals participate in Great Migration. The principal players are the wildebeest, whose numbers appear to approximately 1.7 million, which supporting documents roles from 200,000 Zebra and 500,000 Thomson’s gazelle behind the main player, and of course, predators, lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas await the annual coming of Great Migration with eager anticipation.
Wildebeest and zebra spend wet season on south eastern Tanzania plains and the Serengeti’s, dry season on the Kenya’s Masai Mara. There is neither start nor finish to their endless searching food and water, as they roam Serengeti and Mara ecosystem in a relentless sequence of life and death. The only begin is the moment of birth and end is moment of death. There is lots of questions when is best time to see wildebeest migration?, from our experience of long time of studying the annual migration, we discovered that the herds movements are always different, is a dramatic process which defies predictions because of climate change. The Migration is really ever the same in two years in terms of precise timing and direction, they move early or onwards depends on rainfall in the region.North-Southern plains
However, the wildebeest masses move with rain which occur at different time each year, If short rain seasons start early in November herds move south from northern woodland to exploit the short grass plains, where are rich in minerals they need to rear their young.
Between February/Much one of the most amazing spectacles occurs, for 3 to 4 weeks, 90% of female wildebeest give birth. Wildebeest may stay in the southern plains for several months where they share productive grasslands with zebra and gazelle, at the end of rain season, the plains dry rapidly forcing the herds to move center, west and north once again, when they takeoff between May/June marks another great spectacle. The wildebeest meandering lines stretch for miles. Migration arrives in the western Serengeti between June and July, the western corridor offers more than just colorful topography of hills, river and flood plains provides year-around habitat for many of Serengeti’s species
Northern Serengeti woodland:
Wildebeest move through the northern woodlands every year from June/December to feed on grass persist in area. Typically wildebeest arriving the northern border from August onward, here again they must cross water with gigantic Nile crocodiles to Masai Mara. They stay on the productive Mara grasslands until October or November before they pounding the river again at the crossing to Serengeti. Although northern is an interesting place to visit all year around, ‘but’ we recommending our guests to visit from June through December when migration occurs.
