Day 1: Tarangire Baobabs – Start Your Serengeti Plains Signature Journey
Activity: Game viewing
Driving distance: 118km / 1hr 57min from Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your Serengeti Plains Signature Journey begins with morning pick-up from Arusha after breakfast. Head to the superlative dry wilderness of Tarangire National Park, studded with acacia woodland and scattered giant baobab trees that are over 1,000 years old.
As the dry season starts, the Tarangire River becomes the only refuge for wildlife. This is where you’ll witness awesome sightings of massive elephant herds, buffalo, impala, zebra, wildebeest, and giraffe gathering to quench their thirst. On a good day, you can also spot lion, leopard, and cheetah hiding in the woodland.
Picnic lunch will be served inside the park, then game viewing continues deep into Tarangire. As late evening sets in, you’ll transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 2: Serengeti Plains – Heart of Your Signature Journey

After an early breakfast, set off north toward the iconic Serengeti Plains. The drive takes you from the Great Rift Valley escarpment, past the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, through varied vegetation types and Olduvai Gorge woodland before entering the southwest Serengeti.
Here, your eyes will be captured by endless horizon plains. In wet season the Great Wildebeest Migration is the highlight. In dry season, you’ll still experience resident wildlife including lion, cheetah, giraffe, and plains game.
Picnic lunch served en-route, then game drive continues toward Seronera. Pass granite rock formations called ‘kopjes’ – favorite hideouts for lion, leopard, and cheetah during hot days. After a remarkable drive, arrive at camp as sunset paints the sky.

Today you’ll encounter elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, eland, topi, hartebeest, warthog, gazelles, and diverse big cats. Rivers are home to Nile crocodiles, hippos, and diverse aquatic birds. The mystery of Serengeti truly comes alive today.

Leave camp at 6am to discover nocturnal life on the Serengeti open grasslands. Your mind will be enthralled by magical sounds of lions and hyenas. Experience an awesome sunrise and emotive wildlife sightings before returning to camp for breakfast.
After breakfast, enjoy one more game drive before exiting Serengeti. Head toward the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, passing Maasai villages where you can witness their rich culture and traditional way of living. After learning about their customs, continue to your lodge for dinner.

Start early with picnic breakfast in hand, served on the crater floor. The untamed scenery of Ngorongoro Crater will take your breath away as you descend 600m down its steep walls.
The crater valley displays a large resident population of wildlife. You’ll see grazing animals including buffaloes, wildebeest, zebras, eland, hartebeest, gazelles, and warthog. Swamps and forests provide resources for hippos, elephants, waterbuck, bushbuck, reedbuck, baboons, and endangered black rhino.
All these animals share the same habitat with lions, leopards, and the highest density of hyena clans you won’t find anywhere else. After picnic lunch, ascend the crater wall and transfer back to Arusha town or Kilimanjaro Airport JRO for your flight home or onward to Zanzibar.

How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 6 months ahead if you plan to travel June through October. This is peak season for dry weather and the Great Migration, so lodges fill fast.
