6-Day Private Migration Safari in Tanzania - Best Private Tour
PRIVATE 6-DAY • TARANGIRE • WESTERN SERENGETI • NGORONGORO • REAL MIGRATION TRACKING
If you want herds around your vehicle, not on someone else's Instagram - this is it.
Look, most 6-day tours waste your first day in town. We don't. On day one we are already in Tarangire - you know why our guests love it? Elephants everywhere, baobabs older than your grandfather, and zero crowds. You sleep well, then we head to Central Serengeti. That's for cats. Real, big prides. The kind you don't need binoculars for.
Now the main reason you are coming - Western Serengeti for 2 full nights. From May to mid-July the 1.5 million are right here in Kirawira and Grumeti corridor. Not scattered, not far - massive lines stretching as far as you can see. We put you in the middle of it. Rutting males, lions moving with them, cheetahs using the open plains. We move with reports from our drivers on the ground every morning. No fixed camp mentality.
We finish strong. Ngorongoro Crater on the last day. You drop 600m down and in one morning you get rhino, big bull elephants, hyenas - all in that 260 sq km bowl. It's the perfect way to close.
How you join and leave us:
We pick you from Kilimanjaro (JRO) or Arusha (ARK) - wherever you land. Many guests start from Arusha town because Tarangire is only 2 hours away.
On day 6 we bring you back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro. Going to Zanzibar after? We drop you at the right airport - ARK has daily flights, JRO too. Flying home? We get you to JRO for your evening flight. No extra night in town unless you want it.
Runs 1st May to 15th July when herds are in Western Serengeti. Tarangire + Serengeti + Crater - no shortcuts.

May is a wonderful time to explore the beauty of Tanzania’s wilderness on a 6-day private migration safari Tanzania, with light rains adding to the lush greenery of the landscape. Our 6-day private migration safari Tanzania offers a more peaceful and less crowded experience, as the lower number of safari vehicles allows you to appreciate the abundant wildlife in a serene setting. Exploring the eastern Serengeti plains and the Ngorongoro Crater during this time is particularly rewarding, as these areas are rich in wildlife and offer spectacular views before the herds gather for the Grumeti River adventure.
June is a fantastic time to visit Tarangire National Park, with its large elephant herds gathering around the Tarangire River and baobab-dotted landscapes at their most photogenic. It’s also when the Serengeti Wildebeest Migration builds momentum in the western corridor, offering truly awe-inspiring riverine crossings. The Ngorongoro Crater remains a must-see destination, delivering incredible, up-close wildlife viewing in a single day. With vehicle numbers still moderate in June, you can enjoy a more intimate and immersive experience with nature before the peak season rush.
During the Dry Season in Tanzania, wildlife congregates around permanent water sources such as rivers and waterholes in Tarangire and Serengeti National Parks. The Ngorongoro Crater also teems with wildlife during this time, offering exceptional game viewing in a compact area. As this is the busiest safari season, we highly recommend booking your safari well in advance to secure the best lodges and private guide availability.

WHY THIS 6-Day Private Migration Safari Tanzania
Day 1-2: Tarangire to Seronera - Gentle Start, Big Cats Next. We avoid the usual Arusha rush. Day 1 in Tarangire - 3,000 elephants, 550 bird species and massive baobabs, best elephant density in Tanzania. Night 2 in Central Seronera, not for migration herds, but for what it does best year-round: resident prides of 40 lions, leopards in sausage trees and cheetahs on kopjes.
Nights 3 & 4: Western Corridor - 48 Hours on the Grumeti River. This is the hidden crossing season. From late May to July, 1.5M wildebeest push through the Western Corridor, crossing the crocodile-packed Grumeti River. Less crowds than Mara, more dramatic river battles. We camp 10 minutes from Kirawira and Grumeti crossing points, tracking daily herd movements from Nyasirori to Musabi Plains.
Night 5: Ngorongoro Crater - Easy Finish via JRO / ARK. Final night on the rim, then 600m descent into a 260 sq km caldera with 25,000 resident animals - including 30 black rhinos, the densest in Tanzania. After game drive, we return you to your choice: Arusha (ARK) for Zanzibar connections or Kilimanjaro (JRO) for international flights. No forced last night in Arusha town.
